The largest ForeFlight release of the year, ForeFlight 8, went live a few days ago and is ready for you to use. You probably use ForeFlight or know someone who does. Here's what you need to know about the latest update...
In this update, ForeFlight released its worldwide Aeronautical Maps. Continuous zoom, worldwide mapping and airport information, "always-up" labeling, and embedded taxi diagrams are just a few of the newest features. Our favorite part? You get to customize the maps for sizing and displayed information so that what's shown is relevant to you. Instead of the overwhelming amount of information on the VFR Sectional Chart, none of which was interactive or customizable, you can now choose to only display the information you want for a particular part of your flight. Watch this video for more:
ForeFlight Aeronautical Maps, Route Editor, NavLog, Route Advisor, and File & Brief are all now available on plan.foreflight.com. That means essentially all of the same capabilities of ForeFlight mobile are now on the web and will allow you to sync, brief, and adjust plans across multiple platforms.
In addition to those awesome runway and altitude alerts, ForeFlight will now warn you of upcoming TFRs both visually and audibly as you fly. You'll just need a data connection or ADS-B connection through ForeFlight to get updated TFR information.
Do you use ForeFlight? Tell us about your experience in the comments below.
