Watch The Russian Swifts Burn Holes In The Sky With Their MiG-29s

The Russian Swifts aerobatic team has been flying since 1991, and they put on quite a show in their MiG-29s.

But their history goes back much further. The group started in 1950 as the 234th Fighter Aviation Regiment, tasked with a formation flyover of Moscow in MiG-15s. The group started flying MiG-29s in 1983, and they have ever since. Where did the name "Swifts" come from? The original MiG-29s had black birds, Swifts to be exact, painted on the engine air intakes.
