Yesterday on Long Island, a father and daughter walked away from a successful CAPS (Cirrus Airframe Parachute System) deployment. According to the pilot, the engine lost power on approach to Republic Airport. He pulled the CAPS handle, and the aircraft floated down in front of an industrial park.

It's the 63rd successful CAPS deployment, with 127 survivors to date.
