This Is Why You'll Love Having Your Own Airplane

Leasing an airplane is a great way to get some first-time ownership experience. You won't have to pay for everything yourself, and managing all aspects of the airplane isn't something you're normally required to do.

Swayne and 4 friends lease this 1968 C172i in Grand Forks, ND, so they can get some extra flying experience outside of UND Aerospace. They each pay $170 per year for insurance, $30 per month for a hangar, and $50 per hour dry (without gas and oil). That rounds out to about $85 per hour of flight time with gas, and the management company in Minnesota takes care of any emergency or scheduled maintenance.

Finding deals like this aren't impossible, it just takes some looking, networking, and connections to find groups out there that are willing to give you a low dry-lease on an airplane. Have you ever leased an airplane? Is this something for you? Tell us in the comments below.
