There's a lot you'll learn from pilots who have flown commercially for years...

1) It's all about making your passengers comfortable.

That means smooth climbs, turns, and descents. Sure, you're used to doing steep turns, but when most of your passengers are used to straight and level, anything unusual can make them nervous.

2) Remember that making the trip is your call.

Delaying or cancelling a trip is a tough decision. But as the PIC, it's your responsibility to make sure the flight, as well as your passengers, are always safe.

3) Knowing the FARs will keep you out of trouble.

The common carriage rules for commercial pilots can be complex. Knowing the ins-and-outs of the FARs is critical to avoiding a mistake, and a potential FAR violation.

4) Commercial pilots know their systems.

The best pilots know their systems. You don't need to be a mechanic to have a working knowledge of what's important. Knowing your systems can save you time in an emergency, and it helps you make better judgement calls as to whether or not a flight is safe.

5) Fly with precision.

Commercial flight maneuvers take private pilot skills a step farther, combining timing, smoothness, coordination, and increased standards to a high level. Nailing that first chandelle or lazy eight right on altitude and airspeed is an awesome feeling, and it translates to smoother, more accurate flying when you're carrying passengers.

6) They know more about weather and the way it trends.

You're no longer looking at weather in your local area for a 50NM cross country. That's the easy stuff.
