Satellites Protect Pipelines with NTG's Pipeline Watchdog System
How do you prevent corrosion from destroying oil and gas pipelines across the world? NTG, Inc., of Olathe, Kansas, answers that question with their new line of Pipeline Watchdog remote monitoring units. NTG’s units monitor vital corrosion statistics along pipelines, and send that information via satellite and digital phone communication systems. This technology allows pipeline operators to remain constantly in the loop, without gaps between manual inspections by technicians.
To develop this system, NTG partnered with BoldMethod, LLC to develop the software powering their communications gateways, as well as the web application that provides the corrosion information to pipeline technicians. The development was a true team effort, with BoldMethod software engineers working with NTG executive leadership, engineers, and support team members, as well as communicating directly with NTG’s customers. What was the result? NTG has released a product that:
Keeps pipeline technicians in-the-loop with a secure, easy to use web application
Provides immediate alert notifications to technicians through emails and text messages
Allows technicians to import data into any enterprise-level data management system through a flexible reporting feature
Leaves development options open so that NTG can develop new products without being slowed by software development
